About the program:

From July 1 to July 27, Hilde Binford and colleagues will present “Johann Sebastian Bach: Currents and Cross-Currents in the Baroque Era and in Our Time,” a National Endowment for the Humanities project whose purpose is to provide an understanding of the intellectual and musical worlds of J. S. Bach. School teachers from a wide variety of disciplines will travel with Dr. Binford, Louise Forsyth, and other experts to Eisenach, Leipzig, and Potsdam, Germany, for an intensive experience of lectures, performances, discussions and field trips. Follow along as the group explores the life and works one of the great geniuses of Western music.

Eisenach - Bachhouse

We took a tour today of the Bach House and museum today. It is both old and new at the same time. There is an original building showcasing artifacts from his life and the new part of the structure is a museum set up with the latest in technology that showcases his work very well with lots of listening stations and even a 3D video of various artists performing his works. The museum staff showcased a lot of period instruments, including the clavichord, harpsichord, and spinet and organ. Later in the day the group got a chance to see the Bach chior rehearse for an upcoming concert. The experience was magical.
